Addressing a joint press conference with the Brazilian official, Zarif said the nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was the victory of rights over baseless claims.
Zarif added that “Iran will not forget Brazil’s active role regarding the Iranian nuclear issue. We should all remember that Brazil and Turkey toke effective steps for preventing a nuclear crisis in our country.”
“Iran is glad to host the Brazilian FM and his delegation. The two countries enjoy long lasting mutual ties and enjoy lots of commonalties in different economic fields particularly agriculture,” he noted. “Iran and Brazil tend to enhance cooperation which shrunk in the past few years due to the inhumane sanctions,” the Iranian official said adding that Iran's minister of economic affairs will pay visit to Brazil as head of joint commission for boosting bilateral ties.
Touching upon the issue of the nuclear deal, Zarif asserted that Iran takes the US administration accountable for implementing the JCPOA and that “the Obama administration is responsible for stopping the Congress from violating the deal; or the United States would be responsible for breach of JCPOA.”
“The Zionist regime and American hawkish warmongers were against any deal, because they pursue their own interests in violence, conflict and war; yet despite their huge investment, they failed to make any achievements.”
Zarif also affirmed that implementation of the Iran deal is the responsibility of the US government and incumbent or next president of the US is accountable for it; “any breaches under any pretext is violation of the JCPOA and absolutely not acceptable.”
The Brazilian Foreign Minister, for his part, said Brazil and Iran established their diplomatic relations more than a century ago. He expressed his country’s willingness to improve cooperation with Iran through exchange of visits between the two countries’ ministers.
“The exchange of high-level ministerial visits is a very clear evidence of the importance that the two countries attach to each other and to the bilateral relations,” the Brazilian Minister noted.
He praised the Vienna nuclear agreement between Iran and the 5+1 group as “historic and landmark,” emphasizing that JCPOA represented the victory of diplomacy and political dialog.
Several Brazilian delegations including minister of trade and industry, accompanied by an economic group, will travel to Iran to discuss the expansion of relations.
Moreover, talking about Syria, the Iranian official said “Iran is ready to join a serious international campaign to fight terrorism and we insist that the world should take effective steps regarding the issue as well.”
“Some policies, indeed, expand terrorism while some other stop the international progress of countering it,” Zarif said and added “Europe, today, encounters the crises of refugees caused due to the ISIL, which allows it to learn about the problem existing in our region. These issues are caused due to policies which were not formed by the region’s people themselves.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to take any effort to stop the crisis in Syria, Yemen, Libya as well as other terrorism-based disasters, Zarid underlined.
“During the 2013 UN General Assembly, President Rouhani presented a suggestion regarding a world campaign against violence and extremism (WAVE) which indicates the realistic predictions of the world and region’s abnormal condition,” he added.
The Iranian FM also said that he believes extremism, sectarianism and Takfiri groups are major threats to the region; regional countries should consider the future of their nation rather than short term policies.
He also noted that Iran is fully prepared to negotiate with its neighboring countries in order to solve the problems.
